Tip of the Week: Do It After Dark
As I looked through my Flickr photostream, I realized that I haven't taken any night shots for quite sometime. Then, I remembered that my tripod is a cheap piece of crap. I went the cheap route and bought one of those $50 tripods.
My money was funny, and at the time, I wanted to do some night photography. It was cool for the first few uses and then I discovered the many faults of a cheapo tripod. The tripod head wouldn't stay still, and I'm terrified of the cheap 1/4-20 bolt that's responsible for securing my expensive camera to the tripod. Despite all of this I shot for a little while and then it went off to the closet.
Now, I want to do some night shots, and I still have that piece of crap tripod. I'll have to live with it until I can afford a better one. I'm willing to fight the tripod if it means that I can get just one decent image. Besides, once I get a high quality tripod, I'll appreciate it that much more!
