Social Media Profile Pictures
The photos that I use on my Twitter and Facebook profiles needed to be updated with better looking pictures. I wanted a portrait that was a little silly. In my opinion, I looked way too serious in the previous photo, so I thought that I'd put up a more light hearted image.
As I chanted my "Shut Up & Shoot" mantra (see previous post), I was itching to take some shots. I was in Berkeley today and I really wanted to do some street photography. Naturally, I get a phone call and have to scurry off to take care of other business. By the time I was finished it was pouring down rain. That's when I got the idea to do a self-portrait for use in my social media profiles.
The shot that stood out to me is shown to the right. For those interested, I used a three-light setup. The key light is a 180ws strobe with a softbox. The rim light is a Vivitar 285HV with Honl 1/8 Grid
at full power. The background light was a 285 with a Honl Red Gel
at full power. I further tweaked it in Photoshop to get the look that I imagined.
As this week comes to a close, I'm happy to have at least one shot that I'm happy with. Check me out on Twitter or Facebook to see the results.
