Fujifilm X100

I haven't posted much about gear lately. There's no particular reason for this, it's just that I haven't been excited about anything - until now.
The Fujifilm FinePix X100 is a compact camera featuring an 12.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, a Fujinon 23mm fixed focal length lens, and a newly developed Hybrid Viewfinder, due for commercial release in early 2011 and may be priced around $1000 USD.
Now, this caught my eye because I had been looking at rangefinders, namely Leicas and Voigtlanders, because I want to try street photography. Not that I must have a Leica to do street photography, but I wanted a small, quiet camera that will allow me to better blend into the environment. The problem with the rangefinders is that they use film. I'm not quite ready to go that route. For the time being I'm happy with digital.
What caught my eye was the classic look of the X100. The body is magnesium alloy and is wrapped with leather-like accents. Although, I don't think that the lens system is interchangeable. That's my only concern which is partially a matter of perception. I could be like some of the greats and shoot with a single focal length.
Overall, I like the Fujifilm X100. I can't wait to see some sample images from this camera! For more information check out the website.
