AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G

Nikon has finally introduced a AF-S prime, the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G. It has a built-in focus motor, meaning it will AF on the D40/60. The price will be around $500.

Nikon is celebrating 75 years and 45 million lenses produced. Now, I'm celebrating because I'll get to get a fast prime that focuses on my D40, AND it's made by Nikon. The lens has a Silent Wave Motor (SWM), making it silent and fast. It has two modes for focusing: M/A (manual-priority autofocus) and M (manual focus). The AF-S 50/1.4 has a nine-blade diaphragm, for more natural out-of-focus areas.

For more info, check out Nikon's website.
