Giottos Rocket-Air Blower
Recently I discovered images with dust specks, so I figured it was time to think about cleaning
my sensor. I decided to try one of these rocket blowers that I've seen in magazine ads. I didn't want to spend much money so I checked out eBay. I came upon the Giottos Rocket-Air Blower AA 1920 for $15.95 with free shipping. It was part of one of those inexpensive kits which included a five piece digital care kit, and a micro-fiber cleaning cloth. Also, in the kit, is a one-year subscription to PC Photo and a free set of prints from Clarks Color Labs.
I have always dreaded getting near the sensor. Now that my hand is forced (dust specks on images), I must deal with it. So, I took the plunge and found that it wasn't as bad as I thought. On my Nikon D40, I went to the settings menu where I locked up the mirror. Next, I simply squeezed the Giottos Rocket-Air Blower sending a puff of air towards the sensor. (I should note that I'm not actually blowing air on the sensor, but a piece of glass located in front of the sensor.) I then turned off the power switch on the D40, thereby dropping the mirror. I took a few shots and found no specks. Whoo-hoo!
This was just an summary of the sensor cleaning process. In the future I'll do a more detailed post on the procedure.

The information about the Rocket air blower seems to me quite informative. I like its portability and user friendly feature very much.
